Since the Gaza war began in October 2023, Iran has shifted its cyber focus from the U.S. to Israel, launching nearly half of its cyberattacks against Israeli companies, according to a Microsoft report. Previously, only 10% of Iran’s cyber operations targeted Israel. In addition to cyberattacks, Iran has ramped up influence campaigns aimed at destabilizing Israel, including impersonating Israeli activists and spreading false information via social media. These efforts seek to undermine support for Israel’s government and military operations, reflecting the growing role of cyber warfare in modern conflicts.

As cyber warfare continues to evolve, countries like Israel must strengthen their digital defenses and counter such operations to maintain security and public trust. This digital battleground underscores the complexity of contemporary warfare, where cyber strategies can be just as impactful as physical military actions.
